“As a teenager in school I had a challenge with Track & Field. PE was always hard for me. I was a "dancing girl" with all the flexibility in the world, but not a “game playing /fitness/ track & field” girl. It really weighed me down at times, and as a teen girl, it started to take on my confidence. Everyone wants to be cool and fun. I set a challenge for myself to break through and get better at PE.

I signed up for the Track & Field after school club. I was absolutely horrible at everything. So, I started to train myself. I would run every night with my dad at first, and then I shifted my runs to early mornings and would get up before anyone else was up, so I could practice. I was made fun of - you know, things teens do - but I just kept my eyes on horizon and kept running.

I figured, the best way to help my girls overcome their challenges and boost their confidence is by stepping in (just a little) and help them face it all in a non-judging environment.

Я - вообще нет. При всех составляющих, уверенности не хватало, особенно на физкультуре. На сайте целая, более личная, статья, кусочек из неё:

« Сложнее всего в подростковом возрасте мне было с бегом на длинные дистанции. Вообще, физкультура с ее нормативами, была для меня, как Магометова гора. Я была «танцующей» девочкой, с гибкостью и пластичностью, а не «волейбольно-баскетбольно-кроссо-бегающей» девочкой. Синдром отличницы не позволял смириться, но и уверенность это тоже подкашивало. Хотелось уметь. Хотелось быть классной и интересной, запрыгнуть в середине горячего матча и ловко подменить кого-то в игре. Кому в эти годы не хочется, правда же?
Я поставила цель. Тогда, сложно досягаемую.
Первое, записалась в секцию по бегу. Я. Которая в конце всех всегда плелась. У меня вообще ничего не получалось. От⤵️

Isn’t it interesting, how things work out?
~ he is American through and through in his upbringing. S’mores, PB&J, barbecue on 4th of July type of American.
~ I was raised in the best traditions of Eastern-European and European cultures alike. Music and arts were HUGE for me.
.
~ he was training to be an AirForce officer when we met.
~ I was full-on, up to my ears, professional performer. NOT planning on detouring anywhere.
.
~ he wanted LOTS of kids.
~ I wanted one. Maybe two, if persuaded.
.
And yet...
~ even though he was in the Air Force ROTC, with prospectives of a pilot, he was heavily involved with all performing arts while in college. He danced with a University performing company, and he asked me out because we had fun being dance partners for an annual performance the University we were at, held.
Stole my heart by dancing.
And then secured it by playing piano, recorder and saxophone.
Fun fact? I managed to get myself into AirForce ROTC boot camp too. As in, the real one, uniform wearing and all. That’s a very long story 😂. But it was a great conversation starter!
~ we both see things differently from the cultures we were raised in, turns out our views are very much in sync with each other.
~ we look at parenting and gender roles the same. It never was even a question - kind of fell in its own grove by itself, naturally.
There is no “my job”-“your job” type of a thing. If something needs to be done, the first to see it, does what needs to be done.
~ none of us have extended family in our lives. Mine are too far, he doesn’t have anyone.
~ we both love arts or all kinds. We can spend hours at the gallery, discussing the new trends/photography or marveling over masterpieces.
~ we both have love and appreciation for different cultures, traditions and food. There isn’t anything we don’t try. We may not adopt it as a regular, but we will try everything.
.
That’s just a couple of things. Funny, how life works out, right?

I’m curious - have your differences worked out or have they become⤵️

Did you know that vitamins, the term, originally came from the word combination that meant “life blocks”?
Rightfully so, because when the body is fully balanced with vitamins, it can perform its functions best and run well.
I am a BIG vitamin and supplement advocate - if I learned one thing over all my pregnancies and breastfeeding years, it is that taking care of my body is essential. Period.
Or it just won’t work.

.•vitamin E is not one nutrient. It’s actually a combination of 8(!) fat-soluble vitamins with antioxidant properties that use a collective name vitamin E.🤗

• vitamin C helps to produce collagen, ( you know, the essential youth elixir).

• vitamin D is essential to prevent bone loss, depression, some cancers, and this is the vitamin that we cannot get from food, actually. Most people are deficient in vitamin D, especially today. Any guesses why?

• b12 deficiency is often overlooked, but it can be a cause of infertility and be a reason for spontaneous abortions.
.
•most vitamins will degrade if exposed to light and heat, so keep yours in a cool and shaded place.

Does an apple a day really keep the doctor away? Can we get them all from food? Or it really?

Так много изменений за небольшое лето.
Что-то было ожидаемым, многое - не совсем. Хочется все остатки старого стряхнуть, и начать новый путь с чистого листа.
Мои талисманчики ( конечно, помимо 7, которые работают лучше всего😉):
Колибри на добрую удачу, мой «скорпион» для поддержки; камешки месяцев рождения моих самых главных талисманчиков; и просто шармик с банальным сердечком - любви много не бывает, правда же?

Верите в силу намерений? Я - да. 100%.
Каждый шармик-талисманчик имеет своё, особое значение. Что-то обычно-коммерческое, что-то со святой земли или монастырей. Я на «вещи» не прилипаю, но штучки, которые мне дороги... это другое совсем. Это талисманчики, потому что наполнены любовью того, кто его подарил или энергетикой места, с которого они пришли.

Ну, и наше местоположение так никто и не угадал, хотя оно легко досягаемо на Убере (пока).
Про Убер - а у вас тоже работает функция spotlight? Я только открыла для себя, что можно включить свет на телефоне определённого оттенка и водителю он тоже высвечивается на другом конце, чтобы легче найти друг друга.
Хоть первый водитель был и не против искать нас по описанию одежды в толпе ожидающих, с подсветкой в разы легче. Это глобальная функция или нет? Кто знает?

New month, and it’s time for another post from #wheremylilyjadegoes series! First three to guess will get a postcard mailed from there, as we did with a previous one!
Here are some hints:
• sign above (should tell you a lot!)
• one of the people who lived at the address near by LOVED violin 🎻 • there is a fabulous bookshop quite literally near by what accepts cash only. I was very tempted to buy one, to put in my @lilyjadeco bag, as a souvenir, but Yeva and I couldn’t decide on the title. Do you, guys, love new Lily Jade design?! I’m a big fan after a month of using it. Unexpected and different, right?!
That is not a diaper bag at all ( although you could make anything be a baby-bag with an insert), but it actually is specifically designed for women-on-the-go or working moms, in my case. You can’t see it in the picture, but apart from all necessities, I have my iPad and small camera gear too. And ballet flats. As in, the real cloth ones.
I’ll show the bag more in the stories!

• человек, который жил рядом, очень любил скрипку 🎻
• совсем недалеко от нас великолепный книжный магазинчик букинистического стиля. Принимают только наличные. Я хотела приобрести маленькую книжечку, чтобы читать «на ходу», когда жду детей с занятий, но... мы с Евочкой так и не смогли решить, какая все же лучше.
PS: отметьте, а сумочка другая совсем! Не для малыша, а просто обычная, женская, хоть и @lilejadeco .Не видно в кадре, но в моей «женской» сумочке, помимо всего женско-важного ещё и iPad и частично фото-оборудование. И балетки. Обычные. Немножко дырявые.

Америка! Я ехала в АМЕРИКУ! Страну, в которой исполняются желания. Тогда мне, наливной 18ти-летней девочке, казалось, что в волшебной стране «Америка» не существует проблем. Ведь все, кто живёт вне Америки, знают, что США - это место, куда едут, если хотят воплотить мечты в реальность, правда же? Только не знала я тогда того, что мой, хотя чудесный, но очень трудный путь, начнётся с момента, когда я сойду с трапа самолета.

В мои превыше годы в штатах я получила одни из самых поучительных уроков жизни, которые потом лягут в основу того, кем я стала сегодня. Я ещё... Еще я научилась смотреть страхам в лицо, и именно поборов страх, я смогла найти своё счастье.⤵️

Friends, I have 7 kids, but I DON’T have 7 babies.
I get sooooo many comments “I am up to my ears in **** with JUST one/two/three, and you have SEVEN! HOOOOOW?!”

But here is the reality that 99% of people somehow fail to see.
When I had my first and second babies, there was no
Instagram. There was no FB. There was no blog.
Guys, there was no iphone OR a smartphone, for the record. We didn’t even have a camera. We had one of those point-and-shoot film ones, one-time-use ones, and they were expensive while we were poor students, just like everyone else, so we don’t even have a lot of pictures.
.
Those times - if my friends who know me this long are reading this, they will second my words - I was running around trying to figure out this “parenting” thing JUST. LIKE. EVERYONE else. While I like clean house, I told you about my “mess shelf/mess corner” for balance. Back in those days is was a mess ROOM. Just sayin’.
.
Also, right now my kids are on distance learning, and, when not busy, are with me/us all the time.
Please, don’t forget, when I answer to your question “my kids come to work with me”, we are also talking independent TEENAGERS, one of which is practicing driving.
When I had my 4rd baby, first two were in a regular Montessori school, so, reality is, AT HOME I only always had two kids, until 5-6 years ago when older kids got heavily involved in commercial and modeling.
.
So, by baby 5-6 and definitely 7, I already knew what I was doing. I’ve gone the parenting route more then enough time, and by now, I know what is important, what is not, I don’t sweat the same stuff I was worrying about being a first time mom, and ultimately, it is a million times easier.
.
So, pat yourselves on the back.
I hope too, that when you read my posts, you can take whatever is useful for yourself to make YOUR path easier.
Trust me, from a woman who’s done it 7 times, there are a million things I wish I knew earlier that would make my life a million times easier, but there wasn’t a resource for me to learn them from.
My hope is ⤵️

It never ceases to amaze me how much kids can do with their imagination. I remember up to this day my most beautiful costume consisted of my grandmothers silk scarf as a veil and her old robe as a princess dress. Who else loves dress-up?

А вообще, меня не перестанет поражать, как много дети могут придумать просто играя. Я помню (до сих пор!) мое самое-самое «принцессное» плате. Оно состояло из бабушкиного шелкового шарфа ( фата) и ... тёплого халата. И принцесса была самая «принцессная». Помню, с подружками во дворе это у нас был самый шик: выйти в настоящем принцессном одеянии на УЛИЦУ.
Казалось, что все на улице смотрят и восхищаются нами - принцессы же!

Кто помнит детство? Было такое? С подстилочной на траве под окнами? А потом мама или бабушка звали «домоооой!»

I have to say, the times when little ones tag alone with me to a location, have to be some of my favorites. It’s never a boring working day, especially when we they make sure we take breaks and spend good 20 minutes admiring the nature while sipping juice (or three ) and talking about why it’s so good for the body.

С корабля на бал, вернее, на новую съемку. В таком красивом месте снимали новые серии Мадам! Очень хочется показать все и сразу.

Мадемуазель Елечка, как обычно, присутствовала в роли главного ассистента с основной задачей не пропустить ланч и попробовать по чуть-чуть все у всех. А вообще, если честно, я не представляю рабочего дня без детей где-то рядом. Вот это, наверное, и есть баланс, о котором вы часто спрашиваете в Директе. У меня и работа, и дети, и семья настолько переплетены вместе, что мне сложно, даже ментально, их разделить. .
А ещё, я все больше и больше понимаю, как сильно все же отличаются культуры Америки и Восточной Европы. Мое сознание, как взрослого человека, формировалось тут, и, наверное, поэтому многое, что мне кажется таким простым и обычным часто вызывает удивление.

A side note, that is very important and I want to share and support:
I just found out that apart from being made from recycled materials, @Parklandmfg partnered with One Hand to AnOTHER, inc to donate portion of their profits to support camp programs ( science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics and motivation) for predominantly low in-come and at-risk elementary and middle school students across the US.

Как оказалось, совсем не надо ехать на Гавайи, можно привезти Гавайи к себе. А я уже не знаю, радоваться мне этим Нэнси мультикам или нет, потому что тематика Гавайев была задумана для празднования через пару недель и запасы приобретены сообтветсвенно.
Но столько счастья у девчонок. Понимаешь, невольно, что для детской радости надо совсем мало.

PS: я так поняла, что спать мы с джастином на диване будем, ибо в комнате у нас гавайские острова, а наша кровать - пиратский корабль.🤗
