As we have shared before, all the kids participate in a distance learning program for school and lately, they have been encouraging the kids to learn with real-world exploration. The kids and I decided to head out and have some fun. So we grabbed a few things including the new Vtech Kidizoom® Smartwatch DX2 and headed out to the park.
The Kidizoom® Smartwatch DX2 is all about the power of exploration and discovery for kids. They love being able to use the camera on the watch to take pictures of their discoveries and the front-facing camera to create fun selfies. This time I let them interact, explore, and record what they thought was fun and interesting in a way they haven’t experienced.
Another great benefit for the younger ones is the feature to teach children how to tell time and learn the days of the week. The watch will speak the time and date as they interact and change the watch faces. It was so cute to hear Evyianne repeating the time as we headed over to our destination, and for Vasilisa who started Kindergarten this year, it's a great way to reinforce her math skills while we are out and about.
Some of the other features the kids love on the watch are the educational games and activities. The watch itself comes preloaded with several math and other teaching games, but using the USB cord you can connect to the computer and sync with Vtech’s large library of free apps for the watch. One fun game that Evyainne loves is the Monster Catcher which lets the kids explore the real world through the camera and monsters will appear by objects that kids can catch by interacting with the watch face. He had hours and hours of fun chasing the monsters around the trees, before lining girls up for a photoshoot session. He’s so totally picking that up from Nikola.
Vasilia had the best time tracking her “little steps” using the interactive pedometer. That she takes totally after me, as back in the day before any other gadget existed, the pedometer was my one-and-only thing to keep a log of my fitness progress.
On the note of fitness, while the watch isn’t something you would want to take in the pool, it is splash and sweat proof so summer water fights and fountains to explore are just fine. Also, I personally love the fact that you can push a button and the watch will time 15 seconds for the kids to jump and run in place, helping to keep their activity up no matter where we go. I jumped in myself with them because it really is fun. Think of it as an added benefit for moms, you get your work-out built in.
It’s been a great experience for the kids to use the VTech Kidizoom® Smartwatch DX2 as part of their learning adventures. We are happy to partner up today with Vtech to give one lucky fan the chance to win a free smartwatch. Have you guys had a chance to see it as well? What do you think about it?
