A Day for Smiles

A Day for Smiles

Since I was a little girl, I always remembered my smiling grandmother, I don’t ever remember her being upset, I always remember her happy, smiling, cheerful and grateful even at the most difficult times. I loved listening to the stories from her childhood, and she always told me to smile no matter what because a smile will open every door and light even the darkest of the paths. Now as a grown woman and a mom myself, I always wanted to instill this message in my kids so that for years to come they will spread happiness and kindness no matter where they go and no matter where life takes them.

I am humbled to partner with Crest, who helps people take care of their smiles so they can unleash them to the world, and WONDER, the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming movie based on the New York Times bestseller, to choose smiles and spread the powerful message that a warm smile is the universal language of kindness. In the spirit of kindness, I asked the kids what their thoughts were about smiling, making people smile and spreading kindness, and here is what they said:

(Nikolay, 14)
Why do you think people smile?

I think people smile as a sign to keep happiness in the world.

Why do you smile?

I smile because it always keeps me happy and keeps me going even at the hardest times.

(Nadya, 12)
Why do you think people smile?

Because it’s a way to show that they are happy, because if your frown when your happy people won’t know that you are happy.

Why do you smile?

Because I’m happy.

(Yeva, 9)
Why do you think people smile?

Because it makes people happy when they smile and it’s good to smile because if people frown nobody will know your happy.

Why do you smile?

Because I’m glad and happy.

(Vasilisa, 6)
Why do you think people smile?

For pictures, and having fun.

Why do you smile?

Because I want to make other people smile.

(Evyianne, 4)
Why do you think people smile?

Because they are going to give me a toy.

Why do you smile?

Because I have Poodle (his little toy fox that he named Poodle)

(Elia, 2)
Why do you think people smile?

Because they play.

Why do you smile?

Because Evyianne hugs me and shares his cars.

(Elisey, 3 Months)
He can’t really tell us but I’m pretty sure if we translate his baby googly language, he meant to say that he is confident that people smile because they adore him (and he is right), and he smiles because he is fed, happy and sitting in mommy's arms.

Let’s spread smiles, happiness, and kindness around the world.

Smile at someone today and make note of how it changes your day.

I promise it will be the best day ever.
