PIVOT-ing through Richmond

Usually, we would take a rainy day as a treat, hibernate inside and use the entire day for books, games or some marathon-movie watching, but because San Francisco has been gloomy and extra rainy for almost an entire last year, we’ve just been putting our rain gear on, grabbing the weather-appropriate stroller and making the most fun even of the gloomiest of the days.

Kids’ spring break has started, so we went to one of our favorite little patches of the Richmond neighborhood. If you are visiting San Francisco, make sure to stop by! Incredibly under-rated (in my opinion) by all the tourist guides, Richmond is actually a very interesting and unique neighborhood.

If other areas of San Francisco divide by some unspoken categories by cultures, interest or style of living, Richmond is a mix of everyone and everything, and we absolutely love going there for that reason.

On a famous Clement street you will find everything, from all sorts of Asian markets ( buy your souvenirs there! It’s half the price of that what Chinatown offers!) to some of the best gourmet restaurants from all over the world. There are French, Indian, Asian, Italian, Russian kitchens and everything in between!

I left Elia with Justin, put snoozing Evyianne in the new Evenflo Pivot stroller to protect him from the gusting winds of that day, and we were on our way to some of our favorite spots.

Let me pause for a moment here and talk a little bit about the Pivot Modular Travel System.

Many of you asked about budget versions of a good stroller to use. We have listened to your requests and been on a lookout for something that would fit criteria we feel are important but also fit within the very limited budgets some of you asked for.

Evenflo products are very budget-friendly, but unlike many of the competitors on the market within the same price range, Evenflo is known for some of the highest safety ratings, next only to top of the line luxury products, and is definitely a leader within its price category. For nearly 100 years it has been Evenflo’s mission to find and provide products that help new families throughout a journey as a parent. The team has always been committed to a quest for excellence. To the Evenflo family nothing is more important than the safety, well being, and development of children and they work persistently to innovate and deliver to you best-in-class infant care and juvenile products. The Evenflo Company, Inc. goal is, and has been since the beginning, to be a partner to parents with hope that the products they create and deliver provide value families, helping to make an every changing day – and life – a little easier without breaking the bank.

We were very happy to discover the Pivot Modular Travel System that fits our criteria of design, function and performance. This is a 3-in-1 system that provides new parents with necessary and highly-sought-after on today’s market products: a carseat, a stroller and a convertible bassinet.

You can see the full features of the system in the video below:

The carseat is the Evenflo SafeMax™ Infant Car Seat, designed and tested for structural integrity at energy levels approximately 2x the federal crash test standard and tested to simulate a side impact event and rollover event. The SafeMax™ Infant Car Seat (See video below) also features an Anti-Rebound Bar that limits the amount of rebound movement experienced in the event of a frontal-impact. Evenflo safety ranking are the highest, often competing even with luxury models in the line.

This 3-in-1 stroller solution offers a versatile design that grows with your child. Infant mode offers both Car Seat Carrier and Carriage ( bassinet)  function. The bassinet mode is built-in into a seat, so there is no need for additional purchases and it is very easily convertible from one mode to another. The bassinet is deep and plenty roomy which is very convenient for the times some extra winter gear is needed.

As your child grows the Pivot’s usefulness evolves to accommodate both forward – and rear-facing seated positioning, an absolute must, in my opinion. I also like the unique seat configuration which allows to deepen the seat itself without really reclining it. A great feature for extra-windy days, and especially if you have a very strong-willed child (like i do!) who hates weather-protection covers. This option creates a cosy “bubble” for the little one keeping him/her happy and warm at the same time.

Ergonomic handle, large storage basket, flex-hold parent cup holder, a tray attachment are all very useful features for every parent. I am impressed with the textile quality especially given the price of the system. It is not machine washable, but spot cleaning it works great. The handle height is not adjustable, but the positioning is good enough to target both, tall and short parents alike but do make sure you test it to your height and comfort first. An extra large canopy with a peek-a-boo window gives better coverage then similar competitor models in the same price-range. It is a heavier stroller with a larger foot-print, so if you are looking for a compact version this system may not be the best fit for you, but for those who are looking for an all-in-one budget system, I would highly recommend turning your attention to Evenflo.

As always, it is important to find the system that works for your lifestyle and your needs. Make sure you test it for yourself in the local retailer shop.

Now, back to our little adventure for the day! The photo-story with highlights of some of our favorite spots are just below:
