Girl Time with Girlfriends
Big changes happened around here since the last time I logged in. Elisey Liel has smitten us with his charm (newborn Birth Story to come soon), there is no doubt that he is the center of everyone’s attention, even Elia’s. It’s been blissful few days as it always is with the sweet energy the newborn brings to the family. But I will tell you too that I make it a very firm and non-negotiable point to give just as much attention to everyone else who is not a newborn, including myself. The other day I felt like I was up to some adventure with my oldest two girls. We wanted some “grown-up” girl time (now that they are tween and teens), so we packed a stroller with newborn necessities, got dressed and took and made the early morning walk with the baby be longer than we usually do, detouring for some shopping and tat-tat-tat girl talk.
A part of me kind of misses the belly, but then another part is thrilled to dive into the “non-pregnant” clothes again. It will still be a little bit before I can wear crew neck dresses, etc. (not nursing friendly, you know), but over the years I’ve grown to love to focus on shoes and accessories. It’s amazing how much of a self-esteem boost one can get especially after just having a baby by splurging on a new bag and shoes, and it’s double fun when you don’t have to break the bank to get something very stylish, very comfortable, and extremely affordable, right? I’ve fallen in love with my new Steve Maddens. I have never tried the brand before, somehow it just never seemed to be my style, but these slip-ons are beyond perfect and quite literally go with more than half of my wardrobe. For the first time this year, I’m very glad we live in San Francisco. These are fall collection, but most definitely appropriate for my everyday wear.
Anyway, back to the day. So, the girls and I glanced at a few stores, picked up a few blankets for Elisey, (Can I tell you how much I love having girls, and sharing these almost-grownup moments with them?), and then just sat down to talk a little bit. We chatted about all things girly, and it amazes me to see their personalities blossom and open up more and more as they turn into young ladies. I sincerely hope that they consider me their friend no matter the stage of life we are in, and we will always be able to have these moments and conversations.
Yeva has been on a photography streak lately. We finally dusted off our Fuji Insta Camera, and I have no idea why we let it sit for almost two years on the shelf. Now I know what all the buzz is about when I see everyone going crazy about them: the pictures turn out amazing, and we had SO. MUCH. FUN! We came back to the second half of the family and my little helpers jumped in to take care of the baby while I took a few hours to follow up on work. It may not seem like much, but it's these little things that make days like that one be amazing, and it’s the little things that enrich every day.
A bunch of pictures are below, and I linked my shoes and few favorite ones in the carousel at the end of the post as well. Are you guys getting ready for fall? Do you have any favorite shoe styles? Famous Footwear is one of my favorite places to hand out at. A lady can never have too many shoes, right?
