Creating Special Moments

"Life is fun” - a phrase that many agree with. “Life is always fun when donuts are involved” - a phrase that everyone will agree with. Need proof? See below!
We had a new baby just a few weeks ago, which usually means I need to brush off my creativity channels and make some room for "time for two.” The relationship has always been my priority in marriage, and Justin has been really good at supporting the flow (maybe even too good, since we ended up with seven children, though I only planned for one when we talked “family” before getting married). Anyway, back to the story.
I decided to make a little romantic breakfast for two in the early morning hours before anyone else was awake so that we could reconnect, talk about those small nothings that play a very important role in any relationship in my opinion, laugh a little and just be “us” without any little faces being around. (Well, almost. Elisey slept in his Snoo nearby and Nikola got woken up by my burst of excitement. Just read on.)
I picked up some fresh fruit and cheeses, a couple r of our favorite treats, a new box of The Original Donut Shop® K-Cup® pods to try and set the table with my absolute, favorite copper mugs that are only used for very special occasions. It was a pleasant treat to have a nice place-setting and the new Keurig® K475 brewer went great with the table decor. I actually considered leaving it there for good. We also had some of those chocolate filled wafer rolls, if you haven't tried them before, I highly recommend the pairing, they go great with the coffee.
I set the tripod with camera set to “endless frames” in hope to set some fun shots captured for our books and brewed some coffee. It took the grand total of 30 seconds to realize that my favorite copper mugs, those that are only used for very special occasions, definitely added fun to our morning and made the occasion extra memorable.
Word after word, we remembered our college years and the things we used to do as students. Somehow, Battleship came up. Have any of you, guys, played Battleship?! We used to get REALLY competitive with it, and turned out, 15 years down the road, we both still were! Took me the grand total of 3 coffee sips to beat Justin, although I have to wonder if he just purposely drew the ships in the squares I tried to guess. He’s known for the tricks like these, and letting me win. I didn’t get too much into detecting the truth, because, apparently, the lullabies in the background also make for a great slow dance music. He whisked me off to dance, just as we did so many times when we were students.
Elisey woke up to eat somewhere in during the couple of hours we had to ourselves, but I really didn’t mind. A couple more fresh cups of The Original Donut Shop® coffee went great with a conversation and fun moments that both of us haven’t had the chance to share yet. Kids woke up one by one from our laugh and joined in on the fun. The early hours went by fast and set the new path for the day that everyone loved.
Justin sort of hinted that he’d love more of these fun mornings when he popped a fresh bouquet through the door a few minutes after (what I thought) he left for the studio.
The best part, though, came from Vasilisa a couple of days after our romantic morning. We were discussing our plans for the day when she brought up the box of The Original Donut Shop® K-Cup® pods and asked Justin to make “more fun things” with it, and my heart absolutely melted when she stuck a few of the pods into Justin’s bag. When asked (as I was trying to quietly get a few snaps without her noticing) what she was doing, she answered so simple and sincere:
“Making sure daddy has the “coffee fun pods” with him all the time!”
have any of you tried The Original Donut Shop® Coffee? do you have a favorite? any recommendations?! I'm all ears! we want to try some new flavors!
the moment we realized that there is no way to drink the coffee! our mugs were steering hot!
battleship! i loved this game! apparently, I am still very competitive when it comes to winning :)
Elisey woke up to eat, but neither one of us minded!
look at those blue eyes peeking from behind my shoulder. I'll do anything in this world for them.
don't sleep when the baby is sleeping! dance! lullabies are great for slow dancing :)
ten minutes after I thought he left for the studio to get on early calls, this happened:
but the best part came a couple of days after, when Vasilisa wanted to have more fun:
i am dying here! can any one say "no" to those eyes when they are accompanied by those little hands? I couldn't, and Justin was no different :)
i got lucky to catch a couple of snaps with Vasilisa trying to pack Justin's bag with The Original Donut Shop® Coffee K-Cup® pods. all i can say: A-DORABLE!
