A Breath of Fresh Air: The New MoleKule

A Breath of Fresh Air: The New MoleKule

Let’s talk about air purifiers. If you have been looking into getting an air purifier at home, or if you already have one, this is a great post to bookmark for later.

Being in the city definitely has its benefits, but it also comes with some drawbacks. One of those is the dust and other pollutants in the air that inevitably come into the home. When we moved to San Francisco, we were really glad to have the fresh sea air of the Pacific, and with the change from New York it was really nice for a bit, but after a while we noticed that we kept having a lot of dust building up, and some of the allergies the kids and I had  would begin to get a bit aggravated.

Many of you know how much we watch the things that we do to be healthy and do care a lot about the health for all the kids, but for a little while we couldn’t really figure out why these allergies kept coming up, even though we regularly maintained and cleaned the home.

Our pediatrician made a suggestion at one of our well-child visits that we could probably try using an air purifier to see if that made a difference. We followed his advice and picked one up at the store.

I don’t remember which one we started with, but we did notice a difference after a bit and the symptoms I was having and a couple of our kids were having started to go away. Clearly there were allergens and dust in the air that was aggravating those issues. While it was very nice to have a solution, we had phases of inconsistent results, and much of that came from the type of purifier we used, and we probably didn’t use it as much as we could have because it would be a bit annoying to have the it running all the time, and we would turn it off when we would leave the house, so that let things build up each time we were away.

Needless to say, we knew that we needed to start looking for better options.

Since we moved to Los Angeles we’ve gone through our share of different filters and recently I came across Molekule. We reached out to them to try to see how well their system worked, and if it was good enough for what we needed.

Guys, I can’t say enough that I have been blown away with some of the differences. Right away I could tell a big difference after turning it on for a bit. We had been using a different purifier, but I really hadn’t seen this big of a difference before. So, this has been such a change in what we have experienced with air purifiers.

One of the first things that I noticed after running the Molekule for a day was that at night I slept all the way through the night without waking up to cough once. The kids also slept much better. One of our kids would usually be very congested in the morning, but lately she has seen a big improvement in that area. Elisey also started sleeping longer throughout the night, so I could tell that he is resting much better.

I love our time inside even more now, and I don’t always ‘feel’ that need to get out and breathe some fresh air. Even being in a comfortable place, we had been still having those effects of the air like we did in San Francisco. Now, my home is more of my place to escape to rest and feel more rejuvenated.

Here are some things about Molekule that I have loved and wanted to share with you:

Brand New Technology

The Molekule air purifier is using technology that is brand new called PECO. PECO (Photo Electrochemical Oxidation) is an innovative technology that utilizes free radicals—the same radicals used to kill cancer cells—to oxidize pollutants. By using this technology, PECO is able to destroy pollutants 1000 times smaller than traditional HEPA filters (0.1 nanometers versus 300 nanometers).

Portability and Connectivity

One of my favorite functionality features is that they put a nice leather handle on the top so it is super easy for me to bring it with me into any room that I am going into and plug it in. The app also makes it easy to connect and be sure I have all the settings ready for that room so I don’t need to reset anything.

For a creative person, design really is a big factor in what I like to put in my home. The last thing I want is a large unit that is noticeable as a purifier, plus you often try to figure out where to put it so that it looks ok and can still work effectively. Molekule has been a lot of fun to bring around in the home because it really fits anywhere. Since it’s a cylinder with all the airflow coming out the top, it can go pretty much anywhere and its silver metal finish goes with almost anything I put it by, definitely a plus in my book.

Energy Efficient and Quiet

Since I do a lot of my work and other projects at home, the noise many purifiers usually make had been something that I was concerned with. I was really surprised at how quiet the Molekule unit is for its normal operation. It even has a silent mode where I almost thought it had turned off, but it was still working and I could feel the airflow working like normal. It’s so nice when I can really just forget that it is there and just focus on the activities and time I’m spending at home.

It's also nice to know that without all the high powered fans that many other units have, this one is really efficient. I still remember my electric bill during the summer heat spell in San Francisco, it really climbed because we had to use fans and a filter to keep the dust down.

No More Worn Out Filters

Molekule works on a subscription basis. I actually really like that because the filters for it are delivered at all the right times to get changed when they need to be.

This was actually a problem that we kept having before. We have tried other air purifiers, and they would work well at the start, but over time we noticed the problems creeping back in. I would then remember that we probably need to change the filter, but by the time we’d find the right one and get it installed, the purifier already had lost a lot of its effectiveness. This meant we had to kind of start over again each time.

With the subscription, changing the filters on time is just one less thing to have to worry about.

I think that covers the main aspects of what I love about the Molekule Air Purifier.

Have any of you had a chance to try Molekule? I’d love to hear about your stories and what you think about it.
