2 Tips on Getting Kids to Like Green Smoothies
Morning Smoothie anyone? I don’t know about you, but one of our favorite things to make in the morning is a green smoothie
use ALL colors at first!
The green color can be off-putting at times.
Whenever we introduce new foods, I use other colors - orange, red, purple and make the smoothie to the taste of my child, so that they create a connection “smoothie = delicious”. Once that is done, I add greens that change color of the smoothie, but do it LITTLE BY LITTLE, so that kids get used to the color. Before you know it, they drink it bright green!
I make smoothies sweet-ish initially and gradually decrease stevia or agave. Protein powder (we are die-hard devotees to Premier Protein because of taste and clean ingredients ) adds more than enough sweetness for our taste.
TASTY GREEN SMOOTHIE RECIPE
1 Cup Water, Milk, or Almond Milk
1 Cup Yogurt or Kefir
2 Handfuls of Greens (Spinach, Kale, etc)
1 to 2 Mandarin Oranges
1 Handful of Grapes
1 Scoop of Premier Protein Vanilla it Chocolate Powder ( I like Vanilla best!)
1 Cup of Ice
Make sure to put some liquid FIRST - that will help with blending. Blend well!
PS: this one freezes well too! We do popsicles out of smoothies as well.
