Girl Time Moments
*Thank you, Uniqlo for sponsoring this post and thank you to all of LivingNotes readers for supporting our fun and interesting sponsors.
I’ve heard from other people so many times that you become like your parents as you grow older. Teenager-me fought this hard, but as I have grown to be a mom myself, memories from my childhood resurfaced as some of the best memories of my life. More and more I catch myself thinking that I am repeating some of the things almost exactly one to one to the way my mom have done them when I was little, and my own girls are loving these moments just the same way I did when I was their age.
I remember exercising with my mom. Every saturday morning she would turn on the TV at 7:30 am sharp. We would follow along with the aerobics class: a novelty then and finish off with yoga poses. I loved those yoga poses! I am confident I didn’t maintain anything even close to a proper form, but I had so much fun twisting myself into different shapes, it really didn’t matter. Vasilisa and I have been doing yoga together since she was able to understand the directions given. I don’t know which one of us loves it more. She has to have everything the same way I do, and it is really cute how she gets a little upset that Uniqlo doesn’t make bras in her size at the moment ( she is six, for the record)
I also remember being older and spending hours and hours in my parent’s bedroom, putting together different outfits, talking boys and life with my mom. She treated me as her best friend and it has made me want to be one for my girls too. Half of the time I have no idea what I am doing, but Nadya is loving it, so, I guess, that is the only thing that matters.
We spent just about two hours the other day figuring out new outfits for a spring/summer in LA, mixing and matching different layers. I’ve loved trying out the new bras from Uniqlo. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised to see that at a price point of just under $20 I had two very different bras that met my needs perfectly. The Wireless Relax Bra is perfect for my light exercises at home keeping cool with their AIRism technology that I discovered a few years ago with their cami’s while still giving me all the support I need.
For everyday wear the Beauty Light Wireless Bra has been a great option. When they say lightweight, you really feel like you are wearing hardly anything at all, but I get all the support that I need while I go out to face the day. It has a seamless design that is super comfortable and adds to that feeling of almost nothing on. I also love that it is made so the straps won’t dig into my shoulders and back like many bras tend to do. It gives the support I need and the shape maintains itself very well. Definitely a win in my book.
Another great thing to note is that I feel that it is fashionable enough to be a stand alone piece, or a perfect layer add-on during summer to wear under a loose cami or spaghetti strapped tops that may be a little too low cut where you may want a little more coverage. I know I always do and sometimes it is hard to find a bra that doesn’t look like a bra, you know? Uniqlo has done a great job at covering every category for my liking. Have any of you tried these bras?
Anyway, back to girls and “mommy-hood’. I am sure that my girls will go on their own path. I want them to. Finding the their own road to happiness is something that I believe to be very important. But for as long as they are near me, I will do what I can to plant the seeds of the warm memories they can turn to when grown up. I maybe some years older than them, but together we make a good team!
PS: We put together some really cute outfits, don’t you think?
